Dear SMA Community,
St. Mary’s Academy was founded by an educational order, the Sisters of Loretto. The sisters knew that it was a good education that would support the growth and success of Denver City in 1864. And their work gained immediate notice and support from the earliest leaders and benefactors in town. Lucky for us, the sisters were also the standard bearers for guiding with love and compassion. These are the kinds of teachers you will still find at SMA: experts in education who are passionate about their work and dedicated to the families they serve, from the first foot set down in the morning car-line to the last lights snapped off in the gym.
This year I’ve heard from dozens of parents about the teachers they appreciate and admire, teachers who have touched the hearts and minds of their children. Our parent surveys regularly show that the quality of our teachers is among the top three most valued attributes of SMA. It’s amazing to see the reach that our teachers have in our community at the same time they dedicate immeasurable hours to our school’s mission and children. Please join me in showing appreciation to them this coming week as we celebrate teacher appreciation week. The most beloved gift for a teacher? A special note or card from your child. I know I have saved every single one that I have ever received. Hear from our students as they share why they love their teachers.
