College Counseling

The college counseling process at St. Mary's Academy begins for all students at Grade 9. Rooted in our values and purpose-driven ethos, SMA dedicated itself to guiding students as they unearth their distinctive attributes, harness their talents, and set their aspirations. We provide a structured framework for students to delve into their individuality, learning preferences, and strengths, empowering them to make informed choices about their forthcoming educational journeys and professional paths.

Our experienced college counseling team, with an unwavering commitment to our students, delivers a tailored and comprehensive approach. What sets the SMA experience apart is that our college counselors are not only experts in their field, but they also serve as educators, coaches, and mentors. Their multifacted roles allow them to forge profound connections with each student within classrooms, on the field, in artistic spaces, and beyond, enabling them to offer insightful and meaningful guidance. As a united force, our devoted college team boasts over 60 collective years of experience, fostering a supportive environment with a student-to-counselor ratio of 14:1.

My experience with college counseling was incredible, thanks to the amazing counseling team. I am a first-generation student, so applying to college was a new and very difficult process. My counselor was always very attentive, honest, and most importantly made me feel heard. I am thankful that he was a part of my experience and will forever be grateful to have had him as my college counselor. Andrea López-López '21
