High School Curriculum

At SMA High School, we offer a comprehensive college-preparatory curriculum designed to empower students to achieve academic excellence within a supportive and enriching learning environment. Our robust academic program encompasses a range of core subjects, including English and the Humanities, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), Social Studies, and World Languages. Within these academic foundations, students build strong proficiency through required coursework before advancing to specialized topics and Advanced Placement courses.

We are committed to providing our High School students with exceptional educational opportunities that develop both academic achievement and leadership capacity. Our comprehensive program includes a special community engagement requirement where students must complete at least 100 hours of service before they graduate. This integrated approach ensures students develop as scholars and confident leaders who are ready to be agents of change.

“With my engineering degree, I will hold true to the values SMA has taught me, such as sustainability, community, and discipline for hard work. Being an engineer means having ethics and being responsible for what you put out into the world, and I know that with the lessons SMA has taught me, I can help make the world a better place.” -Jasmine Seeber ‘25, current student at the University of Colorado

Advanced Placement Courses

St. Mary’s Academy offers a comprehensive Advanced Placement program that challenges students to engage in college-level coursework across multiple disciplines. Students have access to AP courses in mathematics, sciences, social studies, and world languages. These courses prepare students for the demands of university academics and provides opportunities to earn college credit through strong performance on national AP exams.

Block Scheulde

Our block schedule allows students to focus deeply on up to four classes each semester, with 80 to 90-minute class periods that provide extended time for in-depth exploration and collaborative projects. The semester-based structure mirrors the college experience, allowing students to become accustomed to the rigor and pace of university-level coursework while building on their knowledge from one semester to the next. Built into the schedule is dedicated times for advisory, office hours, special assemblies, and clubs and activities.
