Temporary Emergency Financial Aid

We understand that many families in our community have been deeply impacted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and it is our goal to offer support as best we can through these uncertain and trying times. The Financial Aid Committee, in partnership with our Board of Trustees, Academy President and CFO have created a Temporary Emergency Financial Aid fund for families at SMA. To learn more about this limited and need-based reserve, and how to apply, please contact Seely Greenberg at

Since its inception in 1864, St. Mary’s Academy has been dedicated to offering a premier education to a dynamic and diverse community of exceptional learners. The financial obligation of private school tuition as an investment in a child’s future. We are committed to keeping tuition as affordable as possible. Our Board of Trustees carefully considers the budgetary demands of the school, while prioritizing our students’ and teachers’ resource needs for success.

We use School and Student Services (SSS) to process financial aid applications. SSS is a service of the National Association of Independent Schools. Based on the financial information you provide, SSS gives St. Mary’s Academy an estimated amount your family can contribute to educational expenses. This helps the school make fair and objective financial aid decisions. To begin your financial aid application for the 2020-2021 school year, follow these steps below:

St. Mary's Academy recognizes that enrollment requires a substantial financial commitment, and we offer tuition assistance for grades K-12 to make education affordable at St. Mary’s Academy. SMA is proud of its long tradition of providing tuition assistance across our three divisions. St. Mary’s Academy typically awards approximately $1.9 million in need-based tuition assistance to 30 percent of the student body. Awards range from five percent of tuition to over 90 percent. These funds are made available from generous donors who value a St. Mary’s Academy education.
