6 & 7/8th Head Coach : Sal Hernan
I am a father of two sons. Currently the 29 year old is a Los Angeles County Sheriff and the 26 year old is an account manager for Coca-Cola. After being medically retired from the Marine Corps I coached both my sons sports teams from elementary through and up to high school. These sports included baseball, basketball, football and soccer in organizations of Little League, Junior All American Football, Parks and Recs, American Youth Soccer Organization.
Aside from my two sons' sports careers, I have ten years of coaching in the high school football ranks, along with a couple of years in baseball at the high school level.
I love the outdoors, especially biking, hiking and body surfing when back in Cali. Since coming out to Colorado I have joined three competitive pool leagues and started golfing again.
My sons are now grown adults and it's just now dad going through the empty nest feelings. With that said, the itch to coach again has returned after being away for ten plus years. I truly enjoy making the difference in children's lives and the youth of today. I love athletics and feel that sports really help children learn to be patient, respectful and work along others as a team with a common goal. I am looking forward to working with all the amazing children here at SMA and assisting them in their development.
