Sam Khan -
I played on the WPSA (professional hardball squash association) in the 1980s, achieving a ranking of 16th in the professional championships. I have coached in the United States (Colorado and Missouri) and Toronto, Ontario at several private clubs. At the University Club in St. Louis, I coached a very large junior program with over 50 of our students going on to play squash at colleges such as Stanford, Harvard, Yale and others. I also coached adults during my tenure at The University Club. My son, Seth, who assists me in coaching, and I are very excited about the prospect of building an active junior program for the school, and it is our desire that we will have committed students who will eventually compete on a national level. We currently have several non-St. Mary's students who are active players, ranging in age from 11 to 16, and we would very much like to bring in St. Mary's students into the "team" outside of the St. Mary's programs. Our goal is for anyone who is keen to play become a part of the squash "team" and compete in tournaments here and around the country.
Seth Khan -
I am the assistant squash pro under my father Salim Khan who got to 15 in the world. He got into the sport thanks to his father Hashim Khan who was a world champion 6 or 7 times. Growing squash is a true passion outside of dancing. Been playing squash for 20 years and played on the pro tour SDA doubles for a year in 2017. Coaching for about 10 years in Colorado with my father. Started off with 2 kids back in 2014 and now the program has close to 40+ kids. Bringing squash to a school in Colorado has always been a goal and for St. Mary's to grow it's sports program around the sport will allow it's students to have a strong opportunity to put Colorado squash on the map when it comes to junior squash! Squash alone is a lifetime sport and is played all around the world. Very grateful for St. Mary's to give squash an opportunity.
