St. Mary’s Academy is excited to announce the hiring of Katie Joella as the new head coach of the school’s soccer program. A former standout player for the CU Buffaloes and a Mountain Vista High School graduate, Joella brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the program.
Joella, who has deep roots in Colorado’s soccer community, was a key player for the University of Colorado Boulder (CU), where she helped lead the Buffaloes to multiple postseason appearances and earned recognition for her athleticism and leadership on and off the field. Following her playing career at CU, Joella continued her involvement in soccer through coaching and development roles, working with players of all ages and skill levels.
Joella joined the SMA community this year as a teacher in the high school, teaching both Global Citizenship and AP U.S. History.
Joella’s coaching philosophy is rooted in a passion for developing players’ skills while nurturing their love for the game. She is committed to helping student-athletes reach their full potential, creating an environment that promotes both athletic achievement and personal development.
