In the competitive realm of Speech & Debate, few individuals stand out as brightly as our senior, Hannah Reyes. She was recently recognized as one of the top 10 debaters in Colorado. Hannah has made her mark on the competitive circuit and played a pivotal role in leading the Speech & Debate team at SMA. 

As the founder of SMA’s Speech & Debate teams in her ninth-grade year, Hannah has worked to cultivate a culture of intellectual curiosity and constructive dialogue among her peers. She is a natural leader who inspires everyone with an inclusive spirit. Her commitment to sharing her passion for debate with her classmates has elevated the team’s performance and inspired a new generation of debaters at SMA.

“Hannah truly embodies the spirit of a SMirl,” said Speech & Debate Coach Iriana Corral. “She’s never more excited than when she sees another team member excel. Her dedication to supporting students in their research and at tournaments is inspiring to the whole team. She is not only a great debater, she’s everyone’s number-one cheerleader too. Our team is so grateful for her leadership and we are thrilled to celebrate her accomplishments.”

“Besides her strengths as an analytical writer and speaker, Hannah is also creative, fun, and the natural glue to the positive attitude in her classes, activities, and clubs,” said Anne Evans, High School English Teacher, and Hannah’s college advisor. “She consistently innovates and approaches problems with the communal attitude of ‘what is best for all.”
