Two Seniors Named Daniels Scholars Semifinalists
Halley Stennes

Congratulations to Ashley Gonzalez and Allyson Martinez for being announced as 2024 Daniels Scholars Semifinalists. The 2023 Class of Daniels Scholars comprised 238 high school seniors across Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, including two from SMA! Ashley and Allyson will continue on in the selection process and will find out in mid-January if they receive Finalist designation.

Ashley says, "To have been named a Daniel’s Semifinalist is an honor and privilege to me. Having the opportunity to potentially receive assistance from a foundation that actively supports students like me with big dreams and not enough resources means that my work throughout my entire academic career has paid off. It means being one step closer to fulfilling my dreams and aspirations as I transition into a new stage in my life, and lastly, joining the 32% of Latinos who have the opportunity to attend a 4-year college."

Allyson reflected on parts of her application, "I'm most proud of my community service at Metro Caring. I have done my hours there for the last three years, and I'm happy to be able to give back to my community through Metro Caring"

Daniels Scholars receive up to $100,000 towards their undergraduate degree. Students are selected for their strength of character, leadership potential, commitment to serving the community, and academic potential.
