Check out our first group of fall sport athletes in September Featured Athletes! This month, coaches from the Middle School Boys Soccer, High School and Middle School Field Hockey, and High School Cheer are sharing their featured athletes with us. These students stand out by being encouraging teammates, hard workers, and dedicated athletes. Congratulations, to this month's featured athletes! Check out what their coaches have to say:
Varsity Field Hockey: Blair Fransiscus
Senior, Blair Franciscus, moved from a defensive sweeper to a defensive midfielder for this 2023 season and it has made a huge difference for the Wildcats! It has helped in the offensive transition game with moving the ball up the field. She also continues to be a rock defensively with her communication and her clears. Blair has the leading number of points with 3 goals and 4 assists. She has been a huge asset on corner offense and defense. As any coach dreams to hear, Blair has repeatedly said she feels like she is in the best shape of her life and is feeling super fit. The Wildcats are using this change in positioning as momentum to keep being a strong threatening team as they go into the second half of the season and into playoffs!
JV Field Hockey: Bella Thackery
Bella is a new to SMA this year and we are so excited she is here! Bella is our JV goalie and she has proven to be a power house in the cage. Her confidence and positive attitude radiates to the whole team. Off the field she keeps our spirits high with her wit and amazing singing voice. We are so fortunate to have Bella on our team!
Grade 6 Field Hockey: Maddie M.
Maddie always comes to practice prepared and ready to work. She is new to field hockey and has even been our goalie in games twice! She is always willing to play any position that our team needs! Way to go Maddie!
Grade 6 Boys Soccer: Cooper S.
Cooper is a huge asset to our grade 6 team. He works hard at every practice and always encourages his teammates. He has great footwork and always hustles!
Grade 7/8 Soccer: Pete K.
Pete has been an enthusiastic and engaged player on the boys' 7th & 8th grade soccer team. He has worked especially well with his teammates even though he is new to SMA, and he is eager to improve his skills. He is also optimistic that the team will perform well this season.
High School Cheer: Elle Humphreys and Teagan Billig
Two sophomores, Tegan Billig and Elle Humphreys, are bringing their spirited energy to the Englewood Cheer Team as part of our partnership with EHS. During last week's Homecoming festivities, they wowed the crowd with dynamic dance routines at a pep rally and football game halftime.
