High School Clubs

This club is targeted to students who enjoy watching their art come to life. In this club we will watch your favorite animated films and learn about different animation forms! Such as stop motion, flip books, and digital animation. Whether you're new to the craft or already experienced you will be guaranteed to have fun with this art form.

For students who view the world through an artistic lens, Arts for Social Justice club is the perfect place for you! We will explore different artists that are advocating for social change through a variety of art styles, as well as practice making our own art that speaks to justice issues we care about. We also plan to work together on a long-term art installment for our school community!

We will do some activities during and outside of club time to engage with the wonders of outer space, including movies, crafts, night sky parties where we use multiple telescopes to observe different far away celestial objects, zoom sessions to see the planets and the moon SUPER up close, and even -not one- but two retreats to another school’s property so that we can stargaze in isolation.

Baking Club is a fun and exciting time for all our members. Whether you’ve never baked before, or it’s your passion, Baking Club is the place for you. Over the course of the year, we will improve our baking skills, incorporate different desserts, and have an all-around great time. Join us to bond and bake the world a butter place!

Students explore various aspects of the business world, including marketing, entrepreneurship, tech startups, and investments. They have the opportunity to compete in the Stock Market Game, and to interact directly with members of the Denver business community, in order to learn what it takes to be successful in a business career.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the thought of choosing a career? Career Networking and Exploration Club will gather monthly to recruit guest speakers from various professions/occupations. We will select speakers based on students' input and interests and organize school-wide guest speaker events. Being a part of this club will offer opportunities to explore and understand career paths, provide an understanding of educational and experience requirements, develop networking skills, and possibly help you select a college major.

Chemistry club is for students who would like to explore science in a relaxed environment. We will experiment with different themes such as food and color. Some experiments we will include this year are imploding cans, making ice cream ,and much more. At the end of each day we will discuss how the experiment(s) worked, without having to do a lab report. Overall we hope that this club will show how fun Chemistry is.

Craft Club is the perfect place to learn how to sew, knit, crochet, and more! We believe that anyone can do art, even if you like doing it just for fun. During meetings, we will learn how to knit, crochet, and embroider. We hope to see you there!

The Diversity Club is a club whose purpose is to promote understanding around the issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This club sponsors the Diversity Day, and is involved in monthly round tables, affinity groups, and bringing speakers to the school concerning these issues. This club also works with the wider community around issues of diversity including some members of the club who are involved in: STAMP (Students Taking Action and Making Progress) and Cherry Creek Diversity Day.

This club focuses on environmental awareness and practices within the school and sets goals to improve SMA’s conservation efforts such as composting, recycling, and energy conservation. The club plans all activities for Earth Week and organizes fundraisers for environmentally conscious organizations

Fashion Club is designed for students with a passion for fashion! We believe that everyone is fashionable in their own diverse and unique ways. Some of our goals include spreading body positivity, promoting sustainability, and helping students find ways to express themselves through clothing.It involves many activities, such as DIY clothing, rating runway looks, up-cycling clothing, discussing trends, making accessories, and more. Everyone is welcome.

Gender Equity and Inclusion Club is focused on education relating to gender equality, with a specific emphasis on intersectionality. Intersectionality refers to the ways that different aspects of identity (such as race, gender, and class) inform people's lives. We aim to create a brave space to learn and discuss various issues and experiences relevant to the SMA community and beyond. 

This club presents case evidence, formulates possible conclusions, performance investigative and forensics activities, and more. 

Students manage a real portfolio worth over $25,000. Club members spend meetings researching, presenting, and discussing stocks. Meetings also feature experienced guest speakers from various fields. Past speakers have included an investment advisor, a forensic accountant, and a financial planner. Each club meeting opens with a discussion about recent events affecting the stock market.  Overall, the St. Mary's Academy Investment Club aims to increase financial literacy among teen girls in order to reverse the historic trend of women earning and investing less than men.

Calling all designers, creative minds, and students who want to help our community! Merchandise and social media have a huge impact on students' decisions when it comes to choosing which high school they would like to attend, and when it comes to St. Mary’s Academy we want to make the school looks the best it possibly can! So what does this include? Marketing Club will include designing school merchandise, helping design swag bags for incoming freshmen, helping with digital marketing (the school website and social media pages), and designing posters for school events!

Open Studio provides students with time, space and materials to explore the visual arts. The club is ideal for students who are serious about developing a portfolio, as well as for students who just want an opportunity to work creatively outside of structured coursework.

The Outreach club helps others through organizing school-wide events such as the pad and tampon drive, the blood drive, and running SHOUT week to help raise money for the Loretto Hunger Fund.

Ping pong club is a fun, engaging, and unique experience. Members of our club will participate in singles and doubles tournaments, watch films, and do other ping pong-related games. Snacks will be provided, we hope to see you there!

The PreMed Club is dedicated to educating the members about professions in the medical field. Each monthly meeting discusses a new topic and field in medicine and contributes to the broad scope of information. This is achieved through field trips, speakers, and activities that work toward an understanding of the topic in a fun and interactive way.

Sabor Latino is exactly what it sounds like. One of the best ways to learn is through your stomach which is why we have created a space solely for that purpose. Sabor Latino explores Latin American countries through their gastronomy by emerging into the cooking world of each place. We’ll explore places like Mexico, Argentina, El Salvador, Spain and more. 

Are you feeling stressed about your classes, or do you just need a break to care for yourself? Whatever it is The Self Care Club is here for you. During our meetings we will explore the the 7 pillars of mental wellbeing (mindset, physical health, nutrition, compassion, learning, mindfulness, and community). Each meeting we will start with a 5 minute meditation, then explore our pillar for that day and do a corresponding activity. Some of our activities will include a nature walk, a guest speaker about social media, mindful coloring, and giving back to our community by making holiday letters for healthcare workers. We hope you decide to join The Self Care Club! 

The World Health Club focuses on teaching students about various health issues worldwide. Students learn about epidemiology, the study of infectious disease, and the foreign policy that factored into World Health. This is achieved through case students, group discussions, and guess speakers and activities.

The Asian Affinity Group is a dedicated space created to discuss social, economic, and political issues surrounding the Asian community. We welcome those who share common interests and backgrounds regarding ethnic and racial experiences. There are student run meetings which create a safe environment to discuss sensitive topics. In addition, we strive to make a positive impact in our community by spreading awareness of the Asian experience through group events and fundraisers.

The Black Affinity Group promotes building all females up by promoting conversation about challenging subjects, growth with oneself, and building the confidence of ethic women to voice their opinions. We also bring awareness about issues and think of ways to solve problems within our community. The Black Affinity Group builds a community that feels safe with the school and the outer world.

Disability and Neurodiversity Affinity is a safe place for people to learn about mental and physical disorders through discussions. Our goal is to educate people and reduce stigma around these subjects. People are welcome (and encouraged!) to share their experiences, ask questions, or just come to listen and learn.

The Latine Affinity Group consists of approximately 55 high school girls. Our purpose is to be engaged in the Latino Community as our generation heads into a new era of social justice. We also foster an environment where we can support each others personal and educational needs, as well as our strong sense of culture.

In the LGBTQ+ Affinity Group, we are dedicated to create a safe place for anyone and everyone who either defines themselves as being in the community or an ally of the community. We focus on having a support system for those who need it as well as discussing current world issues relating to the LGBTQ+ community.
