Immerse your child in a summer of excitement at Wildcat Summer Camp at St. Mary's Academy. Our camp program is designed with your child in mind. From various activities to adventurous sports, your child can explore, create, discover, and problem-solve in a fun and safe environment. We offer full-day and half-day camp options, allowing you to tailor your child’s summer experience to fit your family’s schedule.
Need extra care before or after camp hours? No problem! Our extended care options provide peace of mind, with before-camp care available from 7:30-9 a.m., and after-camp care from 3:30-6 p.m.

Drama and Musical Theatre (Ages 5-12)
Curtains up! Enter the enchanting world of musical theatre in a week of creativity, camaraderie, and captivating performances for younger performers. You'll learn dances and songs from famous musicals and act in skits, each day a dance step away from a grand finale performance for families and friends.
Instructor: Emma von Tscharner
Emma teaches Grade 1 at SMA and is the Lower School Drama Club teacher. She holds a BA in theatre from the University of San Diego, and a MA from the University of Denver. She brings over ten years of theatre education experience, from founding a drama club at an elementary school in San Diego where she taught to teaching visual and drama camps at the Arvada Center for the Arts. A seasoned performer herself, Emma has acted professionally in theatre since the age of six.

Earn your American Red Cross babysitter, pediatric first aid, and CPR certification in just a week while connecting with friends. This half-day camp is filled with engaging hands-on practice, videos, discussions, and exploration of the Babysitting Handbook. Leave a life-saver!
Instructor: Tyler Erickson
Tyler is a certified K-12 teacher with over 20 years of experience. She is a Red Cross instructor specializing in babysitting, CPR, AED, first aid, and basic life support for healthcare providers. Since 2014, Tyler has been the CPR trainer for SMA staff.

Soccer Kickstart for Lower School Athletes (Ages 5-12)
Up your soccer game, whether you're new to the sport or gearing up for competitive play. You'll get expert coaching and build your skills in a supportive environment that shares your passion for the sport. It will be a game-changer!
Instructors: Katie and Hannah Joella
Katie is the current freshman/sophomore soccer coach for the girls and boys team at Mountain Vista High School. A powerhouse in her own right, Katie was a proud member of the Division I Women’s Soccer Team at the University of Colorado. She is also the go-to coach for Real Colorado camps, where she imparts her knowledge to budding soccer stars aged 5-10.
Hannah is currently playing Division I soccer at the University of Missouri. A true soccer enthusiast, Hannah has a knack for coaching, having dedicated her time to various camps at the university catering to ages 5-18. She has also coached at Real Colorado for several years.

Broadway Bootcamp (Ages 10-15)
Now seeking performers eager to unleash their creativity and punch up their performance skills. Start the week with vocal warm-ups, collaborative singing sessions, and choreography. Fine-tune your skills with the benefit of constructive feedback, and experience the full spectrum of a mini-performance. The week concludes with a showcase for families and friends. The camp is committed to individual and collective growth.
Instructor: Aimee Faulkner
Aimee is a music instructor at SMA whose passion extends beyond the classroom. She has lent her musical direction and accompaniment skills to over 35 musicals at colleges, community theatre, and children’s community theatre. Aimee spends 3-6 weeks annually in New York City at Stagedoor Manor, a performing arts camp known for Broadway training, where she serves as the musical director and teaches the Master Voice Course.

STEAM Explores: Where Ideas Come to Life (Ages 5-12)
Keep feeding your interest in STEAM with captivating, hands-on activities in SMA's Makerspace like real scientists and engineers. This integrated camp also includes arts, crafts, reading, and drawing sessions to round out the STEAM experience. Are you a curious kid? We want you!

Clark Addington is SMA's Grade 5 Science Teacher. He holds a BA in History and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction and is a dedicated educator with over 25 years of teaching experience. At SMA, Clark applies his extensive professional development in biology and chemistry with budding scientists. He supports Grade 5 learners in their mission to educate younger students about recycling, composting, and respecting the planet. He is a member of the National Science Teaching Association.

Wildcat Summer Camp: Prehistoric Colorado (Ages 5-15)
Roam the land where the Tyrannosaur Rex ruled in this excavation into paleontology with activities at SMA and field trips to Golden. Visit Dinosaur Ridge, one of the world's most famous fossil sites, and hike the Triceratops Trail that winds between large, vertical walls of sandstone and into reclaimed clay pits. Bones, bones, dinosaur bones. Will you find the next one?

Space Exploration Camp (Ages 6-9)
Embark on an extraordinary cosmic journey, delving into astronomy and rudimentary coding that mirrors the daily routines of NASA astronauts. A typical day includes coding sessions, fundamental lessons in astronomy, and movement-orientated activities -- with access to our private planetarium and resident astronomer. Take in the wonders of the cosmos and the digital frontier, and get a head start on the rapidly expanding fields of space exploration and computer science. Mission accomplished? You'll earn a mission patch and a certification of completion!
Instructor: Peter Sniegowski
Peter is the Campus Astronomer at SMA. He launched the Astronomy Program 12 years ago and has cultivated a passion for celestial exploration among students. Partnering with Cyberoutreach.org, an organization with over 30 years of experience in coding education at all academic levels, Peter combines astronomical expertise with coding proficiency in this camp.

Mornings focuses on DTP and ideation, and afternoons are dedicated to hands-on prototyping sessions and business plan development. The week culminates in presentations to a panel of judges, providing you with real-world experience showcasing your ideas (just like the pros).

Missy is an innovative educator who played a pivotal role in creating the Lower School Inspiration Lab, and introduced DTP to SMA. She is the Lower School librarian, and through her diverse roles, she is committed to empowering agents of change through an inclusive library program, providing classroom access to embedded technology, and a robust computer science curriculum encompassing mechanics, digital citizenship, and global impacts.

Team up for drills, scrimmages, and competition games in a league format. You'll excel at your own pace with individualized support from coaches and current high school basketball athletes. Towards end of the camp, you'll unwind by watching sport-related movies and documentaries. Each camper receives a basketball jersey, a drawstring bag, and the chance to participate in daily contests with exciting prizes, including the opportunity to win a Dribbleup Smart Basketball. Combine with the half-day Flag Football Skills Camp for a full week of competitive sports and friendships!

Sculpture Discovery Camp: Unleashing Creativity in 3D (Ages 5-12)
Welcome to the artists' studio, with an inspiring week of immersion into 3-D sculpture. Inspired by sculptors across the eras, you'll work with armatures, wire, paper mache, clay, and found objects. Your ideas will manifest as you imagine in 3-D thanks to instructional lessons and developing planning skills. Take your work to the gallery level with a showcase for family and friends at the end of the week.

Kelly has over 20 years of experience teaching art, with the past 11 years in the lower school at SMA. She is a Colorado Art Education Association Elementary Representative and serves as the Chair of ArtSource Colorado. Kelly has a passion for sculpture and finds joy in guiding students to express themselves through their art.

This camp is loaded with opportunities to play and watch sports, including activities on campus, a trip to Colorado Journey Miniature Golf to finesse your short game, and tix to watch the Rockies vs. the Red Sox at Coors Field. EGCIT Moon Missions (Ages 14-18)
Embark on an extraordinary journey with the E2GCIT2 (Europa, Enceladus, Ganymede, Callisto, Io, Titan, and Triton) Moon Missions Camp, tailored for high schoolers eager to send advanced-level reconnaissance missions to the moons of Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune -- a crucial step towards human colonization. Towards end of the camp, you'll unwind by watching sport-related movies and documentaries. Camp NaNoWriMo Young Writers Program (Ages 11-15)
Welcome to the writers' workshop, where you can craft and complete a creative work, whether it be a play, short story, or the groundwork for a longer piece. Following the structured and supportive framework of Camp NaNoWriMo, you'll immerse yourself in the creative writing process, including introductory brainstorming followed by the development of character, plot and conflict, setting, and atmosphere. You'll also learn the all-important editing stage, and then celebrate in a culminating event where you and fellow writers will share excerpts of your works.

Frisbee Golf Camp (Ages 10-15)

Who can attend Wildcat Summer Camp at St. Mary’s Academy?
We have camps for ages ranging from three years old to 18 years old!
Three and four-year-olds are welcome to attend our summer camp for our littlest Wildcats, our Wildcubs Explorers and is offered later in the summer. They do need to be three years old by July 22, 2024, and be potty trained.
Children entering Kindergarten, but are still four years old, can attend Wildcat Summer Camps as long as they turn five years old by Oct. 1, 2024.

What are the summer camps' hours?
Our schedule allows you to fill your day with the care that fits your family's needs. Care extends from 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Full-Day Camps, from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Half-Day Camps, from 9 a.m. - Noon and 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.
- Early Risers, before camp care, from 7:30 - 9 a.m.
- Awesome Afternooners, after camp care, from 3:30 - 6 p.m
What time do children need to be dropped off/picked up each day?
All parents and guardians must adhere to the designated drop-off and pick-up times for campers.
For full-day camps, parents/guardians must drop their campers off by 9 a.m. and pick them up by 3:30 p.m. unless there is a field trip that may cause a delay in returning to campus. Failure to drop off campers on time may result in them being unable to participate in scheduled activities. Late pick-ups will incur a $30 charge, with an additional $10 fee for every ten-minute increment of lateness after that.
Parents/guardians should drop off their child(ren) by 9 a.m. and pick them up by 12:00 p.m. for morning half-day camps. Failure to drop off campers on time may result in them being unable to participate in scheduled activities. Late pick-ups will incur a $30 charge, with an additional $10 fee for every ten-minute increment of lateness after that.
Parents/guardians must drop off their children by 12:30 p.m. for afternoon half-day camps to ensure participation in camps and any field trips. Pickup time is 3:30 p.m. unless there is a field trip causing a delayed return to campus. Parents/guardians will be emailed a schedule of the field trips for their camps four weeks before the camp starts.
When are the field trips for the Colorado-themed camps?
Wildcat Summer Camp’s Colorado-themed Camps offers an exciting array of field trips throughout its eight-week program. All field trips are scheduled in the afternoon segment of the camp. Departure time and arrival back on campus are contingent on vendor availability and capacity to accommodate our campers. On field trip days, campers may depart from SMA at 12:30 p.m. and return as late as 6 p.m. There is usually at least one field trip in most of the weeks; at times, there may be two.
When will parents/guardians know the field trip schedule?
Are parent-chaperones allowed to attend field trips?
Absolutely! Parents are encouraged to join the field trips as chaperones. Those interested should email Michael Kenny at mkenny@smanet.org for further information. Due to licensing constraints, chaperones cannot be left unattended with a group of children.
Will my child(ren) be charged an aftercare rate that week if they return to campus after 3:30 p.m. from a field trip?
What should campers bring with them each day?
Campers should bring a water bottle, snack, hat, and sunscreen. Lunch is included if you choose a full-day or two half-day camps in the same week. Campers are required to wear Wildcat Summer Camp provided t-shirts on field trips.
Instructors will also send out information if anything specific is needed for their camp, including field trip information.
What shouldn’t students bring to the Wildcat Summer Camp?
My child has food allergies or other special health circumstances. Can this be accommodated?
We are happy to work with you and your child to ensure they are safe. Please clearly explain all allergies and other medical concerns through the online camper registration forms. You can also contact our school nurse, Nurse Bard, with any specific questions or concerns at jbard@smanet.org.
What if I need to make changes to the registration?
Changes, including switching to a different camp, can be made until April 1, 2024, at no cost. Changes after April 1, 2024, are charged a $150 change fee. To make a change, please email Michael Kenny at mkenny@smanet.org.
What is the cancellation policy?
- Cancellations prior to April 22, 2024 will receive a full refund, less a $150 administrative fee for each week, per child that is registered.
- Cancellations made by May 20 will receive a full refund, less a $150 administration fee and 25% of the camp cost for each week, per child that is registered.
- Camps canceled up to three weeks before the start of a camp are nonrefundable. However, a credit (less a $150 and 40% of the camp cost administration fee for each week) can be applied to camp programs in 2024.
Cancellations due to illness
If your child cannot attend camp due to illness, every effort will be made to reschedule your child’s camp week to a different week in the summer.
