High School Camps

Aimee is a music instructor at SMA whose passion extends beyond the classroom. She has lent her musical direction and accompaniment skills to over 35 musicals at colleges, community theatre, and children’s community theatre. Aimee spends 3-6 weeks annually in New York City at Stagedoor Manor, a performing arts camp known for Broadway training, where she serves as the musical director and teaches the Master Voice Course.

Ten minutes to curtain! Learn the ropes and roles of everyone in a stage production in this mini-simulation of Broadway. Along with acting, you'll gain hands-on experience in costume design, lighting, and prop management toward your showcase performance for family and friends at the end of the week.

If you have the same curiosity about the forces that make a lightning storm or the mysteries of the cosmos, this camp is perfect for you. Afternoon campers will explore the secrets of different galaxies and contemplate potential pathways to reach them and "fly over" to Wings over the Rockies, featuring fifty iconic aircraft and Colorado's most realistic flight simulators. You will also visit the Denver Museum of Nature & Science where you’ll embark on a captivating journey through the wonders of scientific discovery. Get ready to take off!

Get down with Colorado sports town! This camp is loaded with opportunities to play and watch sports. Afternoon campers will embark on a trip to Colorado Journey Miniature Golf to finesse your short game, and head to Coors Field to watch the Rockies host the Red Sox. It's a mile high of sports fun, full-time for a full week!

Welcome to the writers' workshop,  where you can craft and complete a creative work, whether it be a play, short story, or the groundwork for a longer piece. Following the structured and supportive framework of Camp NaNoWriMo, you'll immerse yourself in the creative writing process, including introductory brainstorming followed by the development of character, plot and conflict, setting, and atmosphere. You'll also learn the all-important editing stage, and then celebrate in a culminating event where you and fellow writers will share excerpts of your works.

Missy, the Lower and Middle School librarian at SMA, is an innovative educator who played a pivotal role in creating the Lower School Inspiration Lab. She has seven years of experience teaching typing and integrating technology into the classroom. Missy has been an active member of NaNoWriMo for the past 13 years, serving as Municipal Liaison and collaborating with Denver Writes. Missy enjoys sharing her passion for creative writing with students and helping them progress in their writing journey.

Get off the sidelines and into the game with this fun camp that will amp up your knowledge of this popular sport. No matter your level, you'll gain new skills in passing, catching, route running, and more, with personalized attention. Each day includes drills, stations, and competitive games. Hustle and hard work win the game in this camp for all levels and genders. Towards end of the day, you'll unwind by watching sport-related movies and documentaries. Combine with the half-day Rising Stars Basketball Camp for a full week of competitive sports.

Coach Josh has a BA in Sports Management from MSU Denver, with over 15 years of experience playing football and basketball at various levels. His coaching extends to diverse age groups, providing camps and lessons for athletes six years and above. With a background working with athletes at different levels, including collegiate, semi-pro, and professional, Coach Josh is deeply involved in Denver's basketball and football scene.

Welcome to the exhilarating game of Ultimate Frisbee. You'll learn proper frisbee-throwing techniques, other skills, and the rules of the game. You'll also discover the different types of discs, and bring it all together in match play that can help you launch a career in a rec or competitive scholastic league. Combine with the half-day Rising Stars Basketball Camp for a full week of sports.

Coach Kyle brings a dynamic blend of expertise and enthusiasm. With a counselor background in both SMA's Lower and Middle Schools, Kyle is well-versed in supporting students. Kyle is an avid sports enthusiast passionate about unique team sports, including ultimate frisbee and disc golf.

This isn't your ordinary art camp. This camp customized to diverse art venues in Colorado, along with hands-on art projects, will thrill you. Gain insights and inspiration from the contemporary art scene in Denver, Chicano street art in Denver neighborhoods, the surreal art world of Meow Wolf, and the Denver Art Museum. Then, explore different art mediums for yourself as you heighten your artistic skills. This camp will open new worlds to you as an artist and appreciator of art.

In this exhilarating experience, you will immerse yourself in the art of disc golf. You’ll learn the various throwing motions, understand the rules and etiquette, and practice your skills. Disc golf isn’t just a sport, it’s a growing community-driven activity.
